Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot including angels, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem mismatched, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Fans can anticipate learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
